Friends
Click here for a video guide.
With the Friends feature, you can use existing accounts from Gmail, LiveJournal or Jabber * to chat and share files with your friends. As soon as you sign into a service with your existing user name and password, LimeWire displays your friends so you can make lists of files to share with one another.
You do not need to sign into Friends to download and share files with LimeWire. However, the Friends feature is a fun and rewarding supplement to your LimeWire experience where you and your friends can discover and share files.
You can set which files to make available with friends even if they aren't signed in through LimeWire. However, you can only browse their files if they are signed into LimeWire and are sharing with you.
You can sign in and access your friends' files through the Friends icon:
1. Click Sign In under the Friend heading. The Sign In window appears.
2. Enter your username and password for your preferred service.
Note: Your Gmail, LiveJournal and Jabber account password is encrypted to protect your privacy. Also, neither you, nor anyone else can access Gmail, LiveJournal or Jabber features or settings through LimeWire. Signing into these accounts only gives a list of your friends.
3. Click Sign In.
Now that you have signed into Friends, you can chat, share and browse your friends' files.
